Redlands Step-By-Step
is a community coalition of religious and civic organizations working with the Redlands Police Department’s Police and Corrections Team (PACT) and the State Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the successful re-entry of parolees into Redlands.

For individuals on parole, re-entry into the community is a critical

transportation, and lack of affordable housing. The recidivism rate in the state of California runs around 80 percent, while that in the Redlands area is remarkably around  only 20 percent as of 1 August 2010.

Step by Step provides assistance to parolees and their families by:
*Being present each Thursday when parolees check in with
  parolee officers
*Providing personal hygiene kits
*Having available bus passes and emergency food vouchers
*Providing assistance with obtaining vital documents such as birth
certificates, social security cards, picture IDs, and driver’s licenses
*Sponsoring a program where parolees can receive a bicycle and
helmet in exchange for community service
*Helping with grants for education and training programs
*Recruiting mentors for those parolees requesting them
*Providing information for community resources for food, clothing,
education, housing, medical and dental care, and tattoo removal
*Sponsoring “Overcoming Obstacles to Parole Success” (OOPS),
a weekly meeting of parolees led by former parolees who have
been successful in transitioning back into society
*Providing information on job placement and programs that offer
help in preparing resumes, filling out applications, dressing for  and preparing for job interviews
